From the mind of Shane Prentice..

  So these are very politically divisive times.  And I am a very close observer indeed.  American politics fascinate me and I will have a lot to say about them and often but before I even write the first post I’m writing this disclaimer so you know what to expect when you read my observations.  I am not here to blanket bash people or a party…unless they deserve it.  Although I lean more conservative if someone is “F”ing up on the right I will call them out as quick as I will somebody on the left.  Also, although most of my writings will of course be opinion they will be deeply researched and to the very best of my knowledge be fact.  And deeply double and triple checked to confirm what I am saying is indeed based in hard fact.  I will not play games with selective editing and taking quotes out of context nor will I play loose with statistics.  I will cite all my sources and I will at first go to what I feel are nonpartisan sites to gather information.  If I cannot find information on a subject on a nonpartisan site or sites I will report and dig deeper about what the more partisan sites are saying to see what actually comes closest to fact.  I will not post something as fact that at least three sites of mixed bias (if they have bias) agree.  I take a “the more everybody is saying the same thing on both sides” approach to feeing confident I am coming close to fact.  I will not spin stuff and if someone I’m supposed to hate because I’m more conservative than not is doing good things I will not choose party over fact nor will I willfully choose to ignore it if it’s relevant to a topic I’m writing about.  I might not like it but facts can be painful.  And since we are in full disclosure mode I am a card carrying libertarian, socially liberal and politically conservative.  So there ya go.  I don’t always get it right.  Feel free to correct me if I got something wrong.  Let me make THIS clear as well: I am NOT here to have a bunch of yes men or “fans” agreeing with me nor will I ever shut down opposing thoughts or ideas.  As a matter of fact if you think I need to learn something or I’m ignorant of hard fact about something please…have at it. However, if you are gonna come half prepared just to lock caps and cuss and namecall I’m going to clown you for others to see until you no longer amuse me and then permanently dismiss you.  I want to learn.  Then I want to share with you what I learn so we can all start drawing new conclusions where necessary or have our old ones validated.  Fact check the stuff people say that you don’t like.  It might be true.  And your convictions about things might be dead wrong.  It’s called ignorant.  Which means “ignorant of fact” not “stupid” as the word often gets misused to mean.  In a nutshell the truth comes first and above all else here.  And should you chose to argue a point do not use obscure websites that toe your party line blindly to state your case.  Use things like Wikipedia if you need to cite sources.  Or a Google search showing many many posts from varying sources saying the same thing.  I will update this description of my own personal guidelines I have imposed on myself now and then I’m sure but not for purposes of deception.  The media spins stuff bad enough.  My purpose here is to be a “go to” when you want the deeply researched truth.  I hope you will confirm what I say to your own satisfaction often.  And I hope we all learn some things that might make the world a better place one little exposure at a time.  Enjoy!-Shane

  So I try to keep my word.  Sometimes life happens but there is always a method to my madness and a time that feels right to do things for me.  And the time for THIS is LONG overdue.  The thought has gone through my head and the observation made that what I really love to do is write.  It’s what I find myself naturally gravitating toward doing in my downtime but it took me a long time to actually notice that about myself.  I just did it and never thought about it.  So here we are finally.  I promised I would do this. No cute domain name, just shaneprentice.com.  No plan.  Off the cuff.  My only plan really is I will be writing my story from birth til now.  I don’t know if it’s particularly exceptional or different but it might surprise some of you who think you know me real well to find out what made me who I am today.  The good, bad and ugly.  We are all the cumulative effect of our upbringing, experiences and what we hold true in our hearts with the knowledge we currently possess.  Which is ever evolving if you are a growing person and I hope you are.  One day I may find what I wrote years ago painful to read, sophomoric and downright embarrassing.  I kinda hope so.  That means I grew.  Anyway,  I hope you enjoy my musings, stories and silly ass way that I have.  Let the fun begin and I’m really happy that you’re here!- Shane
