For those of you who do not already know me, My name is Shane Prentice. I live right outside of Dolores where my wife and I raise a few milk cows and for the past 9 years I have served as the pastor of Mesa Trails Cowboy Church in Mancos. I grew up a 4th generation wheat farmer and cattle rancher in Eastern Colorado and have been involved in farming and ranching my entire life. I even raised my kids on a ranch down McElmo Canyon so I understand and believe that agriculture is the backbone of what makes Montezuma county great. I also believe that water is the lifeblood that makes our way of life possible and I will work to protect that way of life by fighting to keep our water at home, and our public lands public. As Pastor, my responsibilities are much greater than just preaching on Sundays. Over the years I have counseled many people dealing with everything from grief, to marriage, to personal responsibility. I also mentor kids in the Mancos Middle and High Schools once a week as the huddle leader of the FCA program where we feed and interact with about 50 students each week. My time spent with people in these situations has given me a personal and unique understanding of the needs of people in Montezuma County.
